Onboard health & safety
We prioritise the health and well-being of all passengers onboard our ships. Below, you’ll find key information regarding available first aid, medical recommendations, travel insurance, and guidelines for passengers with specific health concerns.
- First aid onboard
All Tallink Silja Line ships are equipped with first aid supplies. On most routes, a nurse is available to assist with any illness or accidents that occur. However, please note that there is no nurse on the Shuttle ships Megastar and MyStar operating between Helsinki and Tallinn. In these cases, first aid-trained personnel are always available.
- Travelling while pregnant
If you’re pregnant, we advise you to consult your healthcare provider before booking your trip. There are no specific restrictions for travel up to one month before your expected delivery date. However, Tallink Silja Line reserves the right to refuse boarding if you are travelling within one month of your expected delivery.
- Travelling with a disability or reduced mobility
For more detailed information about travelling with a disability or reduced mobility, please visit our Accessible travel page.
- Travel insurance
We strongly recommend all passengers take out travel insurance before embarking on their journey.
Learn more about Tallink Silja Line’s ticket change and cancellation cover - EU Health Insurance Card
For eligible passengers, we recommend obtaining the European Health Insurance Card (EU Card) before travelling. This card grants you access to necessary medical care within EU/EEA countries and Switzerland, under the same conditions as local residents. With the card, you will only need to pay the local patient fees. For more information, please visit your country’s healthcare pages:

If you’re travelling with prescription medications, you must be prepared to show customs proof of your right to carry the drugs. We recommend bringing your prescription with you. For specific rules in your destination country, please contact the respective embassy. More details can be found at:

If you have severe food allergies, we recommend contacting our customer service well in advance of your trip.
